LAST TIME OUT
Columbia took on Loyola Marymount University on Sunday evening in its final game of a brief two-game California trip. The Lions of California emerged victorious, taking down the Lions of New York City 2-1.

The Lions struck first and quickly, as in the 6th minute Krystal Medina put the Lions ahead with the first goal of her young career.

LMU responded with a strong second half, as Callan Harrington tied the match in the 55th minute before Taylor Person scored the game-winner in the 68th to give the hosts the victory.

SCOUTING ST. JOHN'S
St. John's enters the weekend with a 2-1-1 mark through its first four matches of the 2025 campaign. The Red Storm most recently battled to a 1-1 draw against Syracuse, highlighted by freshman forward Ava Martinez's equalizer in the 72nd minute.

The Johnnies are coming off a 2024 season where they went 10-6-3 overall and 5-3-2 in BIG EAST play, advancing to the conference tournament quarterfinals. Head coach Ian Stone, now in his 31st season, continues to build a program known for discipline and defensive organization.

Leading the way is senior midfielder Brooke Boyd, who earned preseason All-BIG EAST recognition after recording five goals and six assists last year. Junior striker Emma Blake adds another scoring punch with 10 career goals, while senior defender Kayla O'Rourke anchors the backline. Through their opening four matches, St. John's has scored five goals while conceding four, showing promise in tight, competitive contests.

SCOUTING LA SALLE
La Salle has opened the 2025 season at 1-2-0, securing its first win with a 3-0 shutout of Rider last weekend. Senior forward Madison Carter netted a brace in the victory, earning A-10 Offensive Player of the Week honors.

In 2024, the Explorers finished 8-7-4 overall and 4-3-3 in conference play, narrowly missing the Atlantic 10 tournament field. Under head coach Paul Royal, who is entering his 23rd season at the helm, La Salle continues to emphasize an attacking style and developing young talent.

The Explorers return a strong attacking trio in Carter, junior winger Sofia Delgado, and sophomore midfielder Katie Fleming, who combined for 12 goals and 11 assists last fall. On the defensive side, senior goalkeeper Rachel Stone provides a reliable presence between the posts after registering 73 saves and four shutouts in 2024.

Early this fall, Carter leads the scoring chart with two goals, while Delgado has added one. With several new contributors gaining minutes, La Salle will look to establish consistency as the non-conference slate unfolds.

Columbia will remain in NYC for the next week, with the team's next match scheduled at Fordham on Thursday at 7 p.m.
