Cross Country Opens 2025 Season on Saturday at the Fordham Fiasco

First meet of the season will begin at 10 a.m. at VCP

BRONX, N.Y. - The cross country program will embark on its 2025 campaign Saturday morning, staying local at Van Cortlandt Park to compete in the Fordham Fiasco.

The meet will consist of a five-mile race for the men at 10 a.m., followed by a 5K race for the women at 10:45 a.m.

PRESEASON POLL
The USTFCCCA released its 2025 Preseason Poll and Regional Rankings for both men's and women's cross country late last week, and both Columbia programs were represented among the elite teams in the nation.

In the northeast region, the Columbia women's team was picked to finish in sixth place after a 10th place finish in the 2024 East Regional last year at the same venue. Columbia's top talent returns again in 2024 and the Lions hope for another top finish.

Meanwhile, the men were projected ninth in the northeast region after a ninth place finish in the East Regional in 2024. Ireland is hoping they can reach greater heights this season, despite getting picked to finish in the same spot as last year.

The full men's preseason poll results can be found HERE, while the full women's results can be found HERE

The 2025 East Regional will be hosted by Boston College at Hopkinton Fairgrounds in New Hampshire.

NEW FACES
The Columbia cross country and track & field programs welcomed a group of 33 newcomers for the upcoming season, which included 18 women, 15 men, and 9 cross country runners.
