Bears defeat the Lions, 244-56
Columbia opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay, as the A relay of Shaelyn Shields, Ashley Hong, Ella Chan, and Sally Ma touched in 1:42.89.
Several Lions turned in strong individual performances throughout the meet. Shields led the Lions in the backstroke events, placing third in the 100 back (55.97), while also adding points in the 400 IM. Hong delivered key points in the breaststroke events, finishing third in the 100 breast (1:03.01) and placing fourth in the 200 IM (2:04.03).
In the distance events, Jilly MacNamara paced Columbia with a third-place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:00.48), followed closely by Maddie Rivard in fourth. Lorelai Page and Lindsay Orringer added points for the Lions in the 200 backstroke, placing fourth and fifth, respectively.
The Lions also picked up points in the sprint events, led by Isabel Lee's fifth-place finish in the 50 freestyle (23.76) and Sally Ma's fifth-place showing in the 100 free (51.16). Chan contributed in the butterfly events, placing fifth in the 100 fly (56.03).
"A strong performance from Lera and Lily on the 1-meter," Head Diving Coach Scott Donie said. "We are excited to get back to work and improve as we prepare for Cornell next week."

The Lions will return home next weekend for an Ivy meet against Cornell on Friday at 4 p.m. in Uris Natatorium.
