Men take down the Big Green, while the women drop a tight decision
HANOVER, N.H. – The Columbia men's and women's squash teams split their second Ivy League road matchup at Dartmouth, with the men delivering a commanding 6-3 victory while the women battled to a narrow 5-4 defeat.
Men's Recap
No. 6 Columbia took down No. 9 Dartmouth, setting the tone early at the top of the ladder. Sophomore Yusuf Sheikh cruised to a straight-game win at first singles, defeating Shan Jolly 11-4, 11-5, 11-2. Columbia added another point at second singles when junior Shaurya Bawa battled through five games to earn a comeback victory over Arihant K S, closing the match with three straight games to seal the win. At third singles, senior Franklyn Smith delivered another key result, outlasting Wei Yan Tho in five games in a match that stretched over an hour.
Columbia continued to build momentum in the middle of the lineup. Junior Paarth Ambani picked up a four-game win at seventh singles, while first-year Sam Du and sophomore Varun Fuloria followed with decisive straight-game victories at eighth and ninth singles, respectively, to clinch the team win.
Dartmouth earned its points at fourth, fifth, sixth, and tenth singles, but Columbia's depth throughout the lineup proved decisive. The Lions' six victories secured the 6–3 final score as Columbia wrapped up a strong showing against the Big Green.

Women's Recap
The women battled throughout the lineup but came up just short against Dartmouth on Friday afternoon, with four Lions earning individual victories in closely contested matches.
Columbia opened the day with a hard-fought win at the top of the order. Senior Nourin Khalifa outlasted Maria Clara Ramirez Velasquez in five games at first singles. Khalifa rallied after dropping the fourth game to secure the deciding fifth, clinching the match 11-8 to put the Lions on the board.
The Lions added momentum in the middle of the lineup. Senior Amal Izhar earned a five-game victory at fifth singles, closing strong in the decider after the match was tied at two games apiece. Junior Eugenia Li followed with a four-game win at sixth singles, and first-year Isha Gupta added another point for Columbia at seventh singles with a comeback victory after dropping the opening game.
Columbia also pushed Dartmouth in several tightly contested matches that swung the outcome. At ninth singles, sophomore Sophia Hu went the distance before falling in four games.
