
Men’s Swimming & Diving Faces Navy and Cornell This Weekend

Spectators without a valid Columbia University ID or a registered QR code must enter the Uris Swim Center Balcony through the Northwest Corner Building at W120th & Broadway.
LAST TIME OUT
The Lions defeated Brown, 157-143, last Saturday which marked the Lions' first win of the new year.
Several Lions turned in standout multi-event performances throughout the meet. Stephen Zhukov and Zach Vasser went 1-2 in the 1000 freestyle, with Zhukov winning the event in 9:19.37 and Vasser close behind at 9:20.71. Gian Santos delivered a big day in the distance events, capturing first place in the 500 freestyle (4:29.76) while also adding a third-place finish in the 200 IM.
In the butterfly events, Seungjoon Ahn claimed victory in the 200 fly with a time of 1:49.69, while Adam Wu followed in second. Wu also placed second in the 200 backstroke and contributed key points across multiple events. Zion James secured a win in the 50 freestyle (20.08) and later added a runner-up finish in the 100 free.
The breaststroke group provided another major scoring boost for the Lions, led by Corn's first-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:00.30). Beri Yang placed second in the event, while Alston Qin added valuable points. Columbia also picked up additional event victories throughout the meet, continuing to build separation on the scoreboard.
It all came down to the final event, the 400-medley relay. The team of Wu, Sam Eckert, Derek Hitchens, and James touched first in 2:56.31 to seal the Lions' road victory.
SCOUTING NAVY
The Midshipmen enter Friday's meet with a 11-1 record, most recently picking up wins over Delaware and Kenyon, but losing to Ivy foe Princeton in a tri-meet.
Last season, Navy finished 11-4 overall and went on to finish second at the Patriot League Championships.
In last year's showdown, the Lions came up short against the Midshipmen (158-142).
Chase Maier is fresh off being named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, his third weekly award of the season.

SCOUTING CORNELL
The Big Red are 3-3 so far this season, with a 2-3 mark in Ivy League contests. Most recently, Cornell dropped a conference contest to Yale by a score of 195.5-104.5.
The Big Red finished last season with an overall record of 7-3, with a 4-3 record in Ivy League dual meets. Cornell would go on to finish fifth at the Ivy League Championships.
Last season, the Big Red earned a 178-121 win over the Lions.

The Lions will host Senior Day against Dartmouth on Saturday, January 31 at 3 p.m. at Uris.
