Lions secure their spot at the Ivy League Tournament for a sixth straight season
With the win, Columbia (18-6, 9-2 Ivy) secured its spot at the 2026 Ivy League Women's Basketball Tournament. This year's event will be held March 13-14 at Newman Arena in Ithaca, New York. The top-four teams in the standings qualify.
"Every game is just about us playing together – it's not really what the other team is doing," said Weiss, who has now scored 20+ points in five straight games. "We're really focused on us … It's really about us, in practice, competing with ourselves each day, each other."
The Lions held Dartmouth (10-14, 1-10 Ivy) without a field goal the entire first quarter and led 20-3. They ballooned the margin to 40-14 to put any doubt of a Big Green upset to rest by halftime.
Columbia has now won nine of its last 10 games and remains atop the Ivy League standings with three games to go.
"I do think we're starting to play well and build momentum – that's our word for the year, momentum," Weiss went on to say. "We're going at it each day in practice and working really hard."
Weiss finished the afternoon 9-of-14 from the floor and 2-of-4 from deep. Broom was 4-of-8 from 3-point land, also adding four rebounds and two steals to her tally. Sophomore Nasi Simmons played 22 minutes off the bench, was a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor and came away with a game-high three steals.
The Lions shot 51.5 percent, including 35 percent (8-23) from downtown. Dartmouth, which didn't make its first field goal until the first minute of the second quarter, shot 33 percent on the day and was just 2-of-10 from deep.
Columbia dominated the glass, 41-19, outscored the Big Green 50-22 in the paint, 20-4 in second chance opportunities and 21-3 in transition. Columbia's bench scored 33 points.
The Lions prepare for a road back-to-back next weekend at Yale and Brown. The action begins Friday night at Lee Amphitheater in New Haven, Connecticut, taking on the Bulldogs at 6 p.m.
