Lions lose back-to-back matches for the first time in 2025-26
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The 49th-ranked Columbia women's tennis team saw its chances at claiming an Ivy League title take a hit on Saturday when No. 69 Harvard defeated the Lions 4-1 at the Beren Tennis Center.
Columbia (14-5, 4-2 Ivy) has lost back-to-back matches for the first time in 2025-26, following last Sunday's loss at Princeton. The Lions can still capture the Ivy League crown, but they would require a lot of help.
Harvard (12-9, 2-4 Ivy) took control of the match early after securing the doubles point. Emily Baek and Sophia Wang secured a 6-3 win over Kavya Karra and Andra Braicu. But the Crimson came away with wins on court three and one.
In singles play, Wang tied the match up with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Kate Kim. But the Crimson put the match away with wins on court No. 1, No. 2, and No. 5.
The Lions wrap up the regular season tomorrow at 1 p.m. when they travel to Hanover, N.H., to take on No. 62 Dartmouth.
