Xu Fires a 67 to Surge into the Lead at the Bucknell Fall Invitational

Lions one shot behind Bison heading to Sunday
LEWISBURG, Pa. — Columbia's Kristina Xu fired off a 3-under-par 67 and now shares the lead after Saturday's second round of the Bucknell Fall Invitational. The three-day women's golf event is being held at Bucknell Golf Club.
Xu's 67 matches the lowest round of her collegiate career and ties for the second-lowest round in program history – she shot her first 67 this past February at Duran Golf Club in the Space Coast Classic. Saturday's round included birdies at the par-4 first, par-5 third, par-4 sixth and par-4 14th. She kept the scorecard mostly clean with 13 pars and just a single bogey.
A sophomore from Claremont, California, Xu set a new program record for single-season stroke average with a 73.50 last season. She sits at even par for the tournament and shares the 36-hole lead with Bucknell's Joelle Johnson. Xu and Johnson are three shots clear of the field.
Behind Xu's 67, the Lions shot a team round of 4-over-par 284, which was eight shots better than Friday's first round. All five competitors on Columbia's A team are in the top 12 on the individual leaderboard, with Bridget Chantharath (+5) tied for fifth, Coco Wang (+7) tied for ninth, and Juliana Hong (+8) and Sarah Shao (+8) tied for 12th. Christine Chang (+3) and Emily Luo (+8) are leading Columbia B, with Chang tied for third and Luo in the six-player tie for 12th.
Despite Columbia's Round 2 success, the tournament hosts carded a 1-over-par 281 to leapfrog the Lions for the 36-hole lead. Bucknell (+15) is in front of Columbia (+16) by one stroke.
Sixteen teams representing 14 women's college golf programs are competing this weekend. The final round is scheduled for Sunday morning.
