Xu, Chantharath Finish Top 10 at Princeton Invitational

Final round cancelled due to weather
PRINCETON, N.J. — Led by top-10 finishes from sophomores Kristina Xu and Bridget Chantharath, the Columbia women's golf team took fifth place at the Princeton Invitational. The first two rounds of the event were played on Friday. Saturday's final round was canceled due to inclement weather.
Xu posted rounds of 72 and 73 for a two-round total of 3-over-par 145 at Springdale Golf Club's par-71 layout. She carded 16 pars, one birdie and a double for her opening round 72. The subsequent second round included two birdies, four bogeys and 12 pars. Her 28 total pars across 36 holes tied for the most in the field and earned her a tie for eighth. Xu now has seven top 10s in 12 career collegiate events.
Chantharath matched Xu with a 72 in Friday's opening round, carding three birdies and four bogeys along the way. She birdied the par-5 11th and par-3 12th in the second round to go from 3-over to 1-over par on the round. She made her sixth birdie of the day on her 35th hole of the day, the par-4 second, before posting a 75. Chantharath tied for 10th to give her back-to-back top-10s to begin the campaign.
Another notable was junior Sarah Shao, who tied for 19th at 9-over for the tournament with rounds of 74 and 77. The top 25 is the 12th of her career.
Columbia (+31) finished fifth in the 12-team field. The Lions bested Dartmouth (+40) by nine shots and St. John's (+45) by 14. The host Tigers won their home event with a team score of 2-over-par 570.
The Lions return to the Windy City Collegiate Classic on October 5 and 6. The tournament will be held at Lake Shore Country Club in Chicago.
