NEW YORK - Kelly Howe has been named an assistant coach on Columbia's strength and conditioning staff. She will work primarily with women's basketball, field hockey, men's swimming, tennis, golf, fencing and assist with football.
Howe comes to Columbia after a year at the University of Notre Dame, where she was the strength coach for men's tennis, women's tennis and women's rowing and assisted in the strength training programs for football, men's basketball and women's basketball.  Prior to Notre Dame, she served an internship with the strength and conditioning program at Bucknell University while also volunteering as an assistant coach with the women's basketball junior varsity team.
A 2002 graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College, Howe was a four-year letterwinner for the women's basketball program and was the team's captain as a senior. Also an avid runner, Howe was the top woman finisher at the 2005 South Bend Half Marathon.
