HANOVER, N.H. - Columbia led throughout both days of the Dartmouth Invitational and finished 15 strokes ahead of second-place Siena to place first overall in the team competition. First-year Sara Ovadia captured the individual title after winning a play-off over Harvard's Ali Bode.
With three other Ivy teams in the field (Harvard, Brown and Dartmouth), the Lions shot a collective 307 to lead Siena by four strokes after day one of the competition. After shooting 74, Ovadia was two strokes behind Christin Thomson of St. John's after Saturday, but shot another 74 on Sunday to finish even with Bode. Ovadia then won a one-hole playoff to cap off an impressive debut in her first collegiate event.
Columbia's victory marks an impressive sweep of both golf teams' first fall events after the men's team captured the team championship and sophomore Chris Condello placed second at the Rutgers Invitational. Both events marked the debut of first-year head coach Rich Mueller.
The women's golf team will return to action on Saturday, September 24 in the Elon Invitational in Sunset Beach, N.C.
