Juli Jimenez joined the Columbia Athletic Training Staff in March 2020. She works primarily with the Lions’ volleyball, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and women’s rowing teams.
Jimenez arrives at Columbia after serving nearly two years as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Penn State (2018-20), where she oversaw primary coverage for the Nittany Lions’ fencing, cheerleading, and dance teams. Her duties included orthopedic and general medical evaluations, coordination of injury prevention and rehabilitation, and collaboration with doctors, coaches, and athletic training staff.
Before Penn State, Jimenez built an impressive resume with experiences at the University of Virginia (2017-18) and the University of Texas (2014-17) athletic training departments. As a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Virginia, Jimenez worked with the Cavaliers’ track and field, cross country, and women’s golf teams. As an athletic training student at Texas, she assisted with the Longhorns’ women’s basketball, football, baseball, women’s rowing, volleyball, track and field/cross country teams, served clinical rotations at Pflugerville High School and volunteered with the American Hockey League team, the Texas Stars.
Also, she served an Athletes in Action athletic training internship where she worked as the athletic trainer for a Canadian collegiate-aged soccer tour to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in May 2016. She also a completed a Maymester in Taipei, Taiwan, studying traditional Chinese Medicine, participating in clinical rotations and completing 35 hours of massage therapy training.
A Houston native, Jimenez earned her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from the University of Texas in 2017. She went on to earn a Master of Education degree in Kinesiology and Athletic Training from the University of Virginia in 2018.
A National Athletic Trainers’ Association member, Jimenez earned the 2018 McCue Society Scholarship and was a finalist for the NATA Masters Oral Award. She also was a member of the Southwest Athletic Training Association student senate and community service officer with the Longhorn Athletic Training Student Association.
