Abby Carpenter was hired as an assistant coach by head coach Katie DeSandis in June 2023.
Carpenter arrives at Morningside Heights following a five-year playing career at Wake Forest in which she appeared in 95 games and tallied six goals and 17 points. Off the field, she was an NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad Selection. Carpenter was a part of the Demon Deacons Final Four team her freshman season in 2018.
In the midst of her playing career at Wake Forest, Carpenter served as an Athletics Intern to Internal Operations at the school during the summer of 2021. Her duties in this role included assisting the Tutor Coordinator with assignment and evaluation of student-athlete tutors and study coaches to ensure compliance with Wake Forest policies and NCAA regulation, assisting the Eligibility with Annual Percentage Rate (APR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR) calculations, as well as, communicating daily for department review.
Carpenter’s other coaching experience features stints with the Futures Program for USA Field Hockey (now Nexus) and Wake Forest’s Summer Camp in Winston Salem, North Carolina along with Freedom Hky in Odenton, Maryland.
The Stevensville, Maryland native graduated from Wake Forest in 2022 with a bachelor’s of science degree in Business and Enterprise Management. Carpenter completed her master’s degree in Liberal Arts Studies in May 2023.
