Alex Fatovic enters his third season as an assistant coach on the Columbia men's soccer coaching staff in 2021. Fatovic was hired in July of 2019 after eight seasons as an assistant at Marshall.

While at Marshall, Fatovic built a small Huntington, West Virginia-based soccer club into what is now known as West Virginia Football Club. Fatovic was the executive director and club administrator, operating the club on a day-to-day basis with an emphasis on communication, fundraising and directing travel and academy staff. Among his many duties in this role, Fatovic implemented new directives and increased WVFC’s brand image and awareness throughout West Virginia and the surrounding area. West Virginia Football Club was established in November of 2014 as a merger of two smaller clubs, which was largely coordinated through Fatovic’s efforts.

As a collegiate player at Long Island University in Brooklyn, Fatovic was a three-year starter in goal. As a freshman, he was part of the Blackbirds’ 2004 NEC championship team. He graduated with honors in 2008 but his playing career didn't stop there, as he helped the Aegean Hawks (DC) of the USASA to two US Open Cup appearances and the USASA National Championship in 2009.

Fatovic won two Virginia High School State Championships in 2002 and 2004 and the 2002 Virginia Snickers State Cup. During the 2004 season, Fatovic earned Virginia State Player of the Year honors.

A native of Falls Church, Virginia, Fatovic currently hollds Senior A, National B, National D, Grassroots Instructor and National Youth licenses from the USSF. He also holds NSCAA National and Advanced National Diplomas.
