Columbia University Athletics

Tyrell Mims joined the Columbia football staff as the Special Teams Quality Control and Recruiting Assistant in September 2025. He works closely with the Lions’ specialists and special teams units while assisting with recruiting operations, film breakdown, and day-to-day program support.

A 2024 graduate of Villanova University with a degree in Communication and a certificate in Public Administration, Mims was a four-year member of the Wildcats football program. A team captain during his senior year, he appeared in numerous games throughout his career and was recognized on both the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll and the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

In addition to his captaincy, he served as the program’s representative on the Team IMPACT Football Leadership Committee, mentoring children facing serious illness and disability.
