Women's Tennis Hosts Tournament to Kick Off 2006 Season

NEW YORK -- The Columbia women's tennis team is hosting the Columbia Invitational from Sept. 15-17 to open its fall season. Brown, Penn, St. John's and Syracuse will join the Lions for the weekend-long event.
Columbia returns 10 letterwinners from a year ago, in which the Lions posted a 10-9 record and a 3-4 mark in the Ivy League.
The Lions will compete in four tournaments this fall, including the Cassie Leary Invitational (Sept. 22-24) at Penn, the ECAC Championships (Oct. 7-9) in nearby Flushing, N.Y. and the ITA Regional Championships at Dartmouth will wrap up the fall slate.
