NEW YORK -- A day after Columbia's seven graduated seniors on the women's soccer team made the leap from college to the business world, head coach Kevin McCarthy made a contribution to the business world.
McCarthy spent the morning of Thursday, May 17 speaking about coaching techniques at the New York office of the advertising agency Ogilvy & Mather.
The Columbia mentor was invited by Ogilvy's Director of Organizational Development to team with Scott Ventrella and Principal of Positive Dynamics, a management consulting firm, to present ideas about "Coaching for Performance".
"It was a privilege to work with Scott," McCarthy said. "I have read both his books: The Power of Positive Thinking in Business and Me, Inc., and learned a great deal that applies to building the model soccer program.
"Managing outcomes in both soccer and business demands peak performance from all involved," McCarthy explained. "My presentation focused on the successful methods used by Columbia Women's Soccer in creating a championship-caliber program."
