Weiner's squad finished 3-3-3 in U20 CONMEBOL Women's Championship
NEW YORK - Columbia women's soccer first-year Izzy Weiner helped the U20 Colombian National Team qualify for the upcoming 2026 U20 World Cup.
Competing in the U20 CONMEBOL Women's Championship in Paraguay earlier this month, Weiner and the U20 Colombian National team finished with a 3-3-3 record, placing fourth overall in the competition. The top four teams earned a spot in the U20 World Cup later this year in Poland.
Weiner was a key part of the team's defense all tournament, and even picked up an assist in Colombia's 2-0 victory over Uruguay.
"The opportunity to represent a country (in my case my mom's country) in an international tournament is always an unforgettable experience," Weiner said. "It was an extremely long and demanding camp, with it lasting over six weeks, but I am so happy I got to live that experience. While it was disappointing to miss my spring season with Columbia Women's Soccer, the support from my coaches and teammates made a meaningful difference!"
The first-year has been playing for the Colombian national team since 2024, when she competed in the U17 CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifying and the U17 World Cup in the Dominican Republic.
