NEW YORK ? Caroline Bierbaum is preparing to be among the nation's best again.
The 2006 Columbia College graduate and three-time cross country All-American is preparing for her first marathon. She will make her debut in the 26.2-mile event at the Chicago Marathon on October 7, with a goal of qualifying for the Olympic Trial, to be held April 8, 2008 in Boston. On August 5, Bierbaum ran the New York City Half Marathon in 1:18:03, a pace of 5:57 per mile over the 13.1-mile course, to finish 14th among women and 87th of nearly 10,000 overall finishers.
Bierbaum was interviewed by Sara Tillman in late July for the New York Road Runners website.
