NEW YORK – There is no offseason when it comes to the outreach efforts of the Columbia women's soccer team.
Kevin McCarthy's squad has partnered with the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, a charitable organization created to raise public awareness regarding pediatric brain tumors.
The team recently adopted a child, Ashley, who came to the Baker Field Athletics Complex on April 11 to spend some time with the women's soccer team.
The team plans to continue its relationship with Ashley throughout the upcoming 2008 season and beyond, having Ashley be its honorary "Little Lion."
The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation has a website with more information on Ashley, along with other NCAA teams who have adopted children dealing with the disease.
Columbia will open the 2008 season at home on Friday, September 5 against Hofstra at 7 p.m.
