Sophie Reiser Named BigAppleSoccer.com Women's Soccer Player of the Week

NEW YORK -- Columbia University junior midfielder Sophie Reiser, who scored three goals and assisted on another in a pair of wins this weekend, was named the BigAppleSoccer.com Women's College Player of the Week. Reiser was honored for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 21.
She becomes the second Columbia player to be honored in as many weeks. Men's soccer standout Bayo Adafin earned Men's College Player of the Week last week after his hat trick helped the Lions defeat then-No. 6 UC Santa Barbara.
Reiser led a Lion attack that exploded for nine goals in its two victories this week. The reigning first team All-Ivy League player had a beautiful goal against American in a 5-0 victory then followed that up with a two-goal, one-assist performance against Stony Brook. Reiser also tallied nine shots against the Seawolves, a career-high. On the year, Reiser is tied for the team lead in goals (4) and points (10).
Columbia will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 26, for its Ivy League home opener against Cornell at 7 p.m.
