
Former Women's Swimming Standout Morford Excels at National Championships

NEW YORK - Former Ivy League champion Lauren Morford '07CC had an outstanding performance in the preliminaries of the 2010 AT&T Short Course National Championships Thursday, as she came in 20th overall in the 500 freestyle. She will compete in the consolation finals tonight. The 2010 AT&T Short Course National Championships are being held Dec. 2-4 at the Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion on the campus of The Ohio State University in Columbus.
Morford, the 2004 Ivy League champion in the 1000 free, has been swimming professionally since her graduation, and has been coached by fellow Columbia College alum Brian Brown. In the preliminaries this morning, Morford proved she still has what it takes. Competing against some of the top swimmers in the nation, Morford swam 4:48.47, qualifying her for the consolation finals, which will take place Thursday evening.
