NEW YORK - The Columbia women's tennis team dropped its second match at the ECAC Indoor Championships in Cambridge, Mass., this weekend, as the Lions fell to Brown, 6-1.
Brown won the doubles point and five of the six singles matches to take a win over the Lions. In doubles, the Lions had a win in the No. 1, as first-year Nicole Bartnik and senior Carling Donovan teamed up to defeat Brown's Cassandra Herzberg and Bianca Aboubakare, 8-5. But Brown notched wins in the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles sports, to take the 1-0 lead early on the Lions.
In singles, Bartnik earned a win for the Lions, as she topped Herzberg in the No. 1 singles spot, 6-4, 7-5. But Brown notched wins in the Nos. 2 through 6 singles spots in straight sets, taking the win from Columbia.
Up next, the Lions continue to advance in the consolation draw, and will face Cornell at 8 a.m. Sunday morning.
