Archery's Sharp Shooting Leads Lions at NY State Championships

OZONE PARK, N.Y. - In its final indoor tournament leading up to the US Indoor National Championships, the Columbia archery team looked sharp at the New York State Indoor Championship. Final results were tabulated from the event that took place on Saturday, March 6 and the Lions finished with seven archers shooting above 500.
Once again this season, it was Sara Goshorn and Sarah Chai battling one another for the top spot in the women's recurve division. This week it was Goshorn who edged Chai 560 (28-25) to 546 (24-20) to take home top honors. Anna Harrington rounded out the top-three by firing a 525 (17-27).
Three other Columbia recurve shooters shot above 500. Just behind Harrington was Lauren Marion who shot a 523 (18-21) to narrowly edge her teammate Alexandra Garyn. Garyn finished with a combined total of 521 (18-19) while Maya Inamura also shot well with a 507 (12-19).
Rounding out the top-10 were Kate Cwynar (441), Stephanie Botica (418), Donju Min (407), and Aaqilah Chambers (373).
Columbia had two archers shoot well in the compound division. Sydney Shaefer finished with a team-high 566 (27-32), while Emily Genatowski shot a combined total of 487 (4-32).
This past weekend the Lions competed in the regional portion of the US Indoor National Championships in Harrisonburg, Va. Final results are being tabulated.
The Lions begin the outdoor portion of their schedule April 8-11 when they travel to Phoenix, Ariz. to compete in the Arizona Cup.
