NEW YORK - Following an impressive second-place finish in the 8k Greater
Louisville Classic on Saturday, the Columbia men's cross country team catapulted up the latest
USTFCCCA NCAA Division I National Cross Country Coaches' Poll to an all-time
best No. 17 ranking.
After finishing ahead of big conference opponents like Georgia, Missouri, Texas, and Louisville, the Lions jumped 11-spots in the rankings. Columbia's previous highest ranking was at No. 18 in week 4 of the 2011 season.
The women's cross-country team made a one-spot climb to No. 23 in this week's poll. They stand at No. 2 in the Northeast regional poll only behind league opponent Cornell.
The Lions will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 5 in the Metropolitan Championships held at Van Cortlandt Park.
