Jackson Earns Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. - Columbia men's soccer goalkeeper Kyle Jackson has been selected as the Ivy League Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

The freshman from Scottsdale, Ariz. made his collegiate debut Wednesday, Sept. 5, as he started the second half of a 0-0 game against Manhattan. Jackson went on to stop all six shots he faced, while his teammates scored twice to give him his first win as a collegian and give Columbia its first victory of 2012.

Jackson also came in to start the second half Sunday, Sept. 9 on the road at Monmouth. Although Columbia fell to the Hawks, 1-0, Jackson played a scoreless 45 minutes. He becomes the first Columbia player to earn Rookie of the Week honors since David Najem collected the accolades Nov. 8, 2010.

Nick Scott was also honored by the Ivy League with a selection to the Honor Roll. Scott recorded a goal and an assist in the Lions win over Manhattan to tally three points on the week.

Columbia will be back on the pitch Wednesday for a 7 p.m. matchup at home against St. Peter's.
