WEST POINT, N.Y. – Five pitchers combined to give up just four hits on Thursday, as Columbia shutout Army, 4-0, at Johnson Stadium in the Lions final tune-up before Ivy League play begins Sunday.

Thomas Crispi earned his first win of the season, going 3.0 innings and allowing just one hit, while also striking out a pair of Black Knights. Ryan Marks followed, tossing 2.1 strong innings. Willis Robbins came on next, and allowed just two hits while keeping Army scoreless. Zack Tax and Mike Weisman closed out the game, with each recording one strike out without allowing a hit.

Nick Maguire paced a Lions' offense that racked up 13 hits. The sophomore went 4-for-5 at the dish and scored a run. Aaron Silbar, David Vandercook and Will Savage each tallied a pair of hits. Mike Fischer provided two RBI for Columbia, while Robb Paller and Logan Boyher each drove home a teammate.

Paller knocked in the first run of the game in the top of the third when he singled to left to plate Will Savage who led off the inning with a single to right field.

Boyher doubled the lead in the fifth frame with a sacrifice fly to right that scored Silbar with the bases loaded and one out. Silbar and Maguire sandwiched singles around a Paller walk prior to Boyher standing in for his team-best third sac fly of the season.

The Lions added a pair of runs in the final inning to make it a 4-0 game. Maguire and Boyher each slapped singles to begin the inning and then moved up a base on Gus Craig's sacrifice bunt. Fischer then stood in and ripped a single to score them both.

Weisman came on and got a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth, capped by a three pitch strike out, to close out the game in Columbia's favor.

In a schedule change announced earlier Thursday, the Lions will open their home schedule and Ivy League play on Sunday at Robertson Field at Satow Stadium against Brown. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for noon.
