FitzGerald Medals at Long Island SQR, Qualifies for N.Y.S. Men's Amateur Championship

EAST SETAUKET, N.Y. – The success on the summer amateur circuit continued for Columbia men's golf Friday, June 20, as rising sophomore J. Christian FitzGerald qualified for the New York State Men's Amateur Championship from July 22-24 at Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse, New York.
FitzGerald and Brian Hale, both 2014 NYSGA Associate Members, shot a two-under 68 at the St. George's Country Club in East Setauket, N.Y. to split the medalist honors. The pair finished three strokes ahead of third-place finisher Matt Hirsh.
FitzGerald's victory comes on the heels of classmate Arjuna Anday qualifying as an alternate for the USGA Amateur Public Links Championship earlier this week.
