
Women's Swimming & Diving Heads To Cornell

NEW YORK – The Columbia women's swimming & diving team will be back in action for the first time following the winter break on Friday, Jan. 16 with a trek to Cornell for a 2 p.m. dual-meet. The Lions (0-3) look for its first win of the season on Friday, as they jump back into Ivy League play.
LAST TIME OUT: After the last dual-meet against Harvard in November, Columbia competed in several invitational's to close out the 2014 calendar year. For the latter two days of a three-day meet, Columbia competed in The Frank Elm Invite, hosted by Rutgers, on Saturday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 23. In just two days, the Lions tallied 651.0 points to finish eighth in a field of 12 teams.
A number of Lions joined the nation's biggest names in the sport at the 2014 AT&T US Winter National Championships from Wednesday, Dec. 3 - Saturday, Dec. 6 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
A week after the New Year, the Columbia diving core competed in the Hawaii Diving Invitational from Thursday, Jan. 8 – Friday, Jan. 9. Brooke Nernardin led the Lions in the three-meter dive with a tally of 255.35 points for fourth-place in the eight-member field. Alyssa Menz was the top Columbia finisher in the one-meter dive with a sixth-place total of 231.70 in the 12-member field.
ABOUT CORNELL: The Big Red dropped its's second straight in Ivy Leauge play against Yale (100-200) to start the month last weekend. Cornell is 3-3 overall and 2-3 in the conference with wins over Dartmouth and Penn.
