NEW YORK - Antonio Matarazzo and Andrew Tinari earned a spot on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-East Region team, announced this week by the NSCAA.
"Whenever your team takes steps forward, there are going to be individuals that are recognized for their contributions to the teams success," said head coach Kevin Anderson. "We are all very proud of Andrew and Antonio, as these are earned accolades for both players. What we discussed and lived this season on a daily basis leads us forward. It's the team and the support of each other that counts and the opinion and evaluation of ourselves that matters. This is what refines us and allows us to respond as we did on many occasions this season. Building on that, it what shapes the 2016 team. "
The announcement on the NSCAA All-Region teams came out on Wednesday, Dec. 9, with Tinari earning second team honors and Matarazzo picking up third team accolades.
Tinari recently wrapped-up a junior campaign in which he was a first team All-Ivy League selection for the second time in his career. The Holbrook, New York, native helped knock off No. 18 Providence with a game-winner in the second overtime period, one of two goals he had on the season. Tinari led the team in assists, with four coming from the midfield.
Matarazzo made his mark in the Princeton game as one of two goal-scorers in the 2-0 win. On the season, the Fair Lawn, New Jersey, native logged 1,410 minutes while starting all 16 games primarily as a defensive midfielder. Matarazzo picked up second team All-Ivy League honors, being recognized by the conference for the third time in his career.
