PANTEL ON THE BOARDS: Sophomore Jayden Pantel continued his unbeaten streak in the three-meter dive with a triumph at Brown behind a score of 383.63. Against Cornell (1/16), the sophomore tallied a first place score of 397.80 in the three-meter dive to set a new program and Uris Pool record in the event for the second time this season. Pantel bested his previous record of 394.28 that was set in the Lions last dual meet against Harvard (11/20/15).
Against the Crimson, his first-place score of 394.28 broke a 15-year old program record of 382.60 set by Columbia's Mark Fichera in 2000, along with the Uris Pool record of 393.61 set by Stephen Vines of Princeton in 2013.
The sophomore capped the weekend with a Kinney Pool record triumph at Bucknell with a tally of 391.85. Behind his record showings, Pantel has tabbed his 19th straight win in the event to remain unbeaten in dual-meet action, dating back to his undefeated rookie 2014-15 season.
Pantel is also unblemished in the one-meter dive in dual-meet action this season, behind seven-consecutive wins over Army, Penn, Yale, Harvard, Cornell, Bucknell and Brown.
TSAU FROM DISTANCE: Since the start of the 2016 calendar year, Brian Tsau has stepped up in a major way for the Lions in the distance events. At Brown, Tsau grabbed his third-consecutive 1000 freestyle win with a time of 9:23.32. As the top distance performer of the meet, he also won the 500 freestyle at 4:32.22.
In back-to-back meets against Bucknell & Cornell, the rookie led a 1-2-3 Columbia sweep in the 1000 free events. He clocked in with a first-place time of 9:31.97 at Bucknell and 9:30.51 against the Big Red.
