ITHACA, N.Y. - Robert Napolitano was the champion in the men's 1 Mile run and Sarah Hardie came through with a win in the women's 1K run at the Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championships, hosted by Cornell.
After qualifying with the second fastest time in the 1 Mile prelims the day before, Napolitano came in as the favorite with a 3:58.98 season best. The junior was able to fend off Princeton's Garrett O'Toole, clocking a 4:13.83 for the win, just ahead of O'Toole's 4:14.08. The championship was the second career individual title for Napolitano, who was a part of both the indoor and outdoor 4x800m relay titles from a season ago, and won the indoor mile last season.

The defending 1K run champion from 2015, Hardie was able to hold off Cornell's Kristen Niedrach, in a tight finish. Both runners came in with a meet record, but Hardie was a mere .01 faster than Niedrach, earning the title at 2:48.40. The meet record run gave Hardie her third career Heps championship, as she also was part of the outdoor 4x800m relay championship from 2015. The day before, Hardie went 2:47.67 in the prelims, breaking the school record in the event.

The men and women both had an additional athlete earn All-Ivy League status, as Alek Sauer and Anna Williams came in second in their event, while the women's 4x800m relay team also claimed second.
After qualifying with the seventh best time in the prelims yesterday at 1:54.15, Sauer climbed past the competition with a 1:52.46 today. The second place finish gives the rookie runner his first career All-Ivy League nod.
Williams busted out a personal best in the triple jump, going 12.51m (41'0.5") for second place. The junior earns All-Ivy League status for the second time in her career, as she was the runner-up in the outdoor triple jump a season ago.
The women's 4x800m relay team of Brittney Wade, Olivia Sadler, Libby Kokes and Hardie crossed the line in 8:56.15 to take second place, just 1.54 seconds behind the winning team from Brown.
The women ended up in sixth place with 52 points, while the men took eighth with 32.
