Archery Posts Big Numbers At National Indoor Championships

Harrisonburg, Va.- This past weekend, the Columbia archery team capped the indoor season at the USA Archery National Indoor Championships on Friday, March 11 – Sunday March 13 in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The Lions boasted five top-25 finishes in a recurve field of 103 archers, along with five in the compound field of 49.
Aileen Yu led Columbia in the recurve with a sixth-place overall tally of 1104 points. Jennifer Han placed 11th overall with a score of 1077 and rounding out the top-25 for the Lions was Bianca Gotuaco in 15th place with 1067, Joy Chang in 18th place with 1052 and Tiffany Kim in 21st place with 1039.
In the compound, Julie Hoffmann posted the Lions leading score totaling 1128 points for a ninth-place overall finish. Finishing with just a one-point difference was Katherine Alfaro in 14th place at 1117 and Judy Zhou in 15th place at 1116. Elizabeth Gunawan added a 26th-place finish on the weekend at 1087, while Victoria Lai posted a score 1054 to finish 34th.
Up next, Columbia will prepare for the outdoor season as they gear for the Arizona Cup/World University Trials next month.
