Track & Field Posts for Seven Wins at Ocean State Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Columbia women's track & field team earned six victories and the men's team came away with one at this weekend's Ocean State Invitational, hosted by Providence and Brown.
In the 200m dash, Jaycee Parker was the champion at 25.48, followed close behind by Aminat Iriafen in third at 25.38, and Iris Chijioke in fourth at 25.86.
Parker doubled-up with a strong third place finish in the 400m run at 56.64, trailing Akua Obeng-Akrofi in first place at 55.16.
Another victory came for Columbia in the 100m hurdles, when Chijioke crossed the line in 14.27 for the win. The other three wins for the Lions came by Emily Krasinski in the 3K run in 10:10.11, Grace Shadid in the pole vault at 3.30m, and the 4x100m relay team that crossed the line in 46.56.
The men were led by first-year Robert O'Brien, who came away with a win in the pole vault at 4.45m, and Bryan Brown, who earned a second place finish in the 200m dash at 22.63, and a third in the 100m dash at 11.09.
Columbia held places three through six in the 3K run, led by Chris Thomson at 8:42.08, who came in just ahead of Solomon Rice, George Miao and Michael McClemens.
The 800m run featured two personal bests for the men, as Johnathan Sowah went 1:52.02 for fourth, and Taylor Click clocked a 1:52.24 for fifth.
Next weekend, Columbia will travel to Princeton to participate in the Larry Ellis Invitational.
