
Track and Field to Host Dr. Sander Scorcher This Weekend

Action begins on Friday morning at the Armory
NEW YORK — Columbia Track & Field returns to the historic Armory this weekend, as the Lions host the Dr. Sander Scorcher. The first event begins at 9 a.m. on Friday, with the women's 3000m. The competition will continue on Saturday morning with the women's mile at 9:20 a.m.

THE FIELD
The meet will welcome a deep and competitive field from across the Northeast and beyond. On the collegiate side, programs scheduled to compete include Columbia, Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Princeton, Brown, Army West Point, Maryland, Oregon, Washington State, Temple, UMBC, St. John's (N.Y.), Rutgers-Newark, NJIT, NYU, Johns Hopkins, Fordham, Hofstra, Iona, La Salle, Lehigh, Manhattan, Monmouth, Quinnipiac, Rider, Rowan, Wagner, and several others
In addition to collegiate competition, the Dr. Sander Columbia Scorcher will feature a strong presence from elite club programs, including Empire Elite TC, Garden State Track Club, New England Elite Track Club, Central Park Track Club, Harrier's Zone, Jaguar Track, Zenith Velocity A.C. International.
Competition begins Friday and continues throughout Saturday, with live results available through Athletic.net. The meet marks one of Columbia's signature indoor events of the season, providing the Lions an opportunity to compete against top-tier regional and national talent on their home track.
LAST TIME OUT
In their most recent competition, Columbia traveled to Hanover, N.H., for a tri-meet against Dartmouth and Yale. The men's squad captured the team title, posting 59 points, while the women's team finished third with 42 points — marking only the second time in over 40 years the Lions have won this historic tri-meet.
Standout individual performances included Collin Moore, who won the men's high jump with a mark of 2.02m, and Jessica Thompson, who took first in the women's pole vault. Liam Wright delivered a strong second-place result in the men's pole vault.
In the field events, Obiora Okeke highlighted the day with a victory in the shot put (18.36m) and a runner-up finish in the weight throw (19.74m), showcasing Columbia's strength across both jumps and throws.

Next weekend, Columbia will compete in the METS Indoor Championships in Staten Island at Ocean Breeze. The meet will begin at 10 a.m.
