
Women's Soccer Announces 2016 Incoming Class

"Our Staff is incredibly excited to welcome the 2016 class into our Columbia Soccer Family. This is an outstanding group of nine young women who bring the character and talent needed to help our program reach new heights, " said head coach Tracey Bartholomew.
"These high-level players all possess incredible speed and athleticism, along with the technical and tactical ability to play the style we are striving for. This class represents all positions on the pitch, helping continue our defensive prowess and commitment to not giving up goals, while also improving our transition on attack for more goal scoring opportunities"
"This class also brings proven winning attitudes and the hunger and drive needed to chase an Ivy League Championship. We cannot wait to see them wearing Columbia Blue."

Cerulli comes to Columbia as a four-sport athlete with 12 varsity letters at The Winsor School including, six in track & field, two in soccer, two in cross country, and two in ice hockey. On the pitch for the Wildcats, Cerulli was named the EIL All-League Goalkeeper in each her rookie and senior seasons. She also was the starting futsal goalkeeper for the U.S. U18 National Team.
Cerulli also comes from an athletic background, with her mother, Mary McAvity Cerulli, having played lacrosse and field hockey at Skidmore College.

Duran was a four-year captain of the Windermere Prep soccer team and capped her career as the programs all-time best scorer. Along with back-to-back record setting single-season in goals scored, 2014(59) and 2015 (74), Duran also set a school record with 239 goals in her career. She has garnered All-Conference, All-County and All-State accolades, along with earning the Varsity MVP award.
Duran was also a member of her high school's track team and received the Florida Scholar Athlete award in 2014 and 2015. Taylor will not be the only collegiate athlete in her family as her mother was a Hall of Fame All-American softball player at Florida State.

A dynamic player on the pitch, Johnson was the captain, MVP, and top goal scorer for the Montclair Mounties in her senior season. She was also named the All-Super Essex Conference Player of the Year and to the All-State Second Team. One of the best players in the tri-state area, Johnson was rated top-10 defender in the IMG Academy 150 rankings with an No.70 overall ranking and No.4 regional ranking. As a player for the N.J. Stallions Dynamite, ranked No. 1 Nationally by GotSoccer in January 2016, she won the NPL U16 and U17 National Championships, and three-consecutive New Jersey State Cups.
Most recently, Johnson was called into the U18 U.S. National Team and participated in the seven-day training camp last week.
Johnson is a member of the National Honors Society and won the Wellesley Club of N.J. Book award in 2015, an award given to the junior who has contributed most to the life of the school through leadership and good citizenship while maintaining high scholastic achievement.
The Ivy League lineage runs deep in the Johnson family with both her mother and father being Harvard graduates, in addition to her mom recieveing a masters from Columbia.

A senstaional forward at Chaminde, Koe was a four-year letter winner and two-time captain. Her first season garnered team Rookie of the Year honors, followed by First Team All-Mission League and team MVP honors as a sophomore. Koe helped lead her team to a Division 1 Southern Section Championship in 2013 behind a personal-best 13 goals and seven assists on the year. According to MaxPreps, Koe recieved a national ranking of 49th overall in the graduating 2016 class.
Accomplished in the classroom as well, Koe received Highest Honors and the Scholar Athlete Distinction in all four years at Chaminade. She plans to study biology at Columbia and hopes to become a surgeon in the future.

Kuryla-Santos was a tenacious defender for the Howell Rebels and the PDA O'Reilly in New Jersey. She won the PDP ECNL Northeast Championship with O'Reilly in May 2015. She also attended the US Soccer U18 Women's National Team Training Camp at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California and the ECNL Nike National Training Camp in Beaverton, Oregon, in the fall of 2015. Kuryla-Santos has won multiple Best Defense in the ECNL awards.
Kuryla-Santos hopes to pursue a career playing professional soccer and/or working in sports media.

Peacock comes to Columbia as a four-year letter winner at Lassiter High School where she helped lead the Trojans to the state semifinals in 2015, before leading them to the State Championship in 2016. A two-time All-County and All-Region honoree in 2015 and 2016, Peacock was also captain of the NASA G17 Elite club team that won the 2015 State Cup Championship en route to a regional semifinals appearance. She was noted as a 2014 USYS National League Player to watch and competed with the 2014-15 Region III ODP Team. Peacock also recieved a 2015 USSF National Training Center Invite. She also led her club team to the 2015 State Cup Championship.
Peacock was a National Merit Scholar, an AP Scholar with Distinction, and is a published author in the book “I Will Make a Difference” along with 34 of her fellow students at Lassiter High School. She is undecided on what she would like to study at Columbia.

Penn arrives to Morningside Heights as a three-sport athlete with 10 varsity letters at The Westminster School including, four in soccer and swimming and two in cross country. On the pitch, Penn spent four seasons as the Wildcats' centerback en route to three AAA State Championships titles in 2013, 2015 and 2016.
With the Tophat 16 ECNL, Penn helped capture three-consecutive GA State Cup Championship crowns from 2013-2015. The team also made National Championship tournament appearances in 2015 and 2016.
Accomplished in the classroom as well, Penn was named to the National Honors Society and National Cum Laude Society.

As a senior captain, Strahm led the Notre Dame Academy team to an undefeated regular season and a CHSAA City Championship. She also was named the Team MVP and SICHSAA Most Valuable Midfielder, won the Wendy's High School Heisman award, and was selected to the MSG Varsity 2015 All-NYC Girls Soccer First Team.
In the classroom, Strahm was a Member of the National Honor Society and the Science National Honor Society. She received the St. John's University Women in Science Certificate and received various awards of Academic Merit in her classes. She plans to study computer science at Columbia.

Temares was a two-sport athlete at The Pingry School with four letters in soccer and three in basketball. She helped lead her team to a Non-Public State Championship in 2012, a Skyland Conference Championship in 2013, and a Somerset Country Championship in 2014. Temares was an All-Area Selection and a NJGSCA Honoree as a senior. With her club team, PDA Arsenal, she won the 2014/2015 U17 ECNL National Championship and ECNL Northeast Conference Championship.
Temares is also a National Merit Scholarship Commended Student, the Chairperson and a member of the Honor Board, and an Apple Certified Mac hardware technician. Her sister, Danielle Temares, will be a senior on the Yale women's soccer team next season.
