COLUMBIA'S STATUS
• The Lions are still in search of their first win of the season after dropping four games in Starkville, two to South Alabama and two to Mississippi State.
• Columbia scored first in all four contests and dropped two games (5-4 at Miss. St. and 4-3 vs. South Alabama) by just one run.
ABOUT SOUTHERN MISS
• The Golden Eagles are coming off a pair of shutouts (2-0 and 10-0) against Xavier Saturday.
• Southern Miss is 9-1 at Pete Taylor Park.
• The Golden Eagles allowed just two runs over 36 innings of work last week for a 0.50 team ERA. Southern Miss' staff fanned 37, while allowing 15 hits.
• Hunter Slater is hitting .393 to pace the squad. Daniel Burdeaux is the team's top power threat with five dingers and 16 RBI.
