After falling behind 9-0 through four innings, Columbia delivered one of its most complete offensive performances of the season, finishing with 21 runs on 19 hits and 19 RBIs.
Offensively, Jack Kail led the charge, going 4-for-5 with five RBIs and two doubles. Cole Fellows delivered the biggest swing of the day with a grand slam as part of a seven-RBI performance. Anthony Temesvary added three hits and two RBI, while Jimmy Chadwell and Tate Vogler each recorded three-hit efforts.
After Penn jumped out to the early lead, Brendan Murphy provided stability out of the bullpen, tossing 3.2 innings while allowing just two runs and striking out four to keep the Lions in the game.
Baylor Hicks (1–2) was credited with the win, getting the final out of the seventh in relief at a pivotal moment as Columbia began to turn the game around. Evan Kleinhans closed things out over the final two innings, allowing just one run while striking out four to secure the victory.
The Quakers struck first in the opening inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues to plate a pair of unearned runs. Gavin Degnan delivered an RBI single before Nick Guachione added a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.
Penn extended its lead in the second inning with a two-run double from James Secretarski to make it 4-0. The Quakers string together RBI singles from Gavin Collins and Ryan Taylor before Secretarski delivered again with a two-run double to left-center, capping a four-run frame for an 8-0 advantage.
Ernie Echevarria added to the lead in the fourth with an RBI single, pushing the margin to 9-0.
Columbia answered in the fifth, plating five runs to shift the momentum. Ben Fishel, Jack Kail, and Anthony Temesvary each drove in a run to spark the rally, while a Penn error brought home another batter before Owen Estabrook added an RBI groundout to cut the deficit to 9-5.
Penn briefly halted the surge in the sixth with a solo home run from Nick Spaventa, extending its lead to 10-5.
Columbia delivered its decisive blow in the seventh. The Lions capitalized on defensive miscues early, as Cole Fellows reached on an error to bring home a run before another Penn error allowed traffic to continue building.
Owen Estabrook followed with an RBI double to right center, and Tate Vogler added an infield single to drive in another as Columbia kept pressure on the Quakers.
With the bases continuing to fill, Kail returned to deliver the biggest swing of the inning with a bases-clearing double to right field that plated three runs and blew the game open. Fellows later added a two-run double down the left field line to cap the scoring, 14-10.
Columbia kept its foot on the gas in the eighth inning, plating seven runs to put the game firmly out of reach for Penn. After a walk and a pair of singles loaded the bases, Ben Fishel was hit by a pitch to bring home a run and extend the lead.
Kail followed with an RBI single to right, and Anthony Temesvary added another run-scoring base hit as the Lions continued to string together quality at-bats. With the bases still loaded, Cole Fellows launched a grand slam to right field to plate Fishel, Kail, and Temesvary.
The Quakers put together a brief rally as Ryan Taylor delivered an RBI double to center field to plate one run, but Kleinhans quickly regrouped, striking out James Secretarski to end the game.
The Lions limited the damage to just one run in the inning, as the bullpen shut the door on Penn's final attempt and secured the 21-11 comeback victory.
