The Lions had a strong showing at the Metropolitan XC Championships at Van Cortlandt Park.

BRONX, N.Y.- Columbia cross country headed up to Van Cortlandt Park on a beautiful fall day for the Metropolitan XC Championships. The women's squad finished third of 11 schools participating, and the men finished in fourth place out of 11 teams.

Aaron Breene was the top finisher for the men's team, finishing sixth in the field with a time of 26.28.3.

First-year Rachel Kenny was the top finisher for the Lions' women's team with a time of 19:06.1 and a seventh place finish. Following closely behind was first-year Emily Rooney in 18th place after a 19:45.2 race. Bianca Alonzo and Rebekah Mills finished together in 22nd and 23rd place with times of 19:53.3 and 19.54.3 respectively. Jillian Murray rounded up the top five finishers for the Lions with a time of 19:75.7 and 25th place.

The Lions also competed today at the Princeton Invitational. The races for the men begin at 4:30 p.m. and the women start at 5:00 p.m.
