Columbia Hosts Dartmouth, Villanova This Weekend

The Lions wrap up a three-game home stand and have the first contest of Homecoming weekend.
NEWS/NOTES
• The Lions went 1-1 last week, dropping their second straight Ivy League decision, 2-0, at Penn before a stunning 5-4 shootout win over Fairfield.
• Columbia overcame a two goal deficit in the second half to force two overtimes and then a shootout against the Stags Sunday. The Lions won the shootout, 3-2. It marked the first game decided by a shootout for the program since 2011 and the Lions improve to 2-2 all-time in the skills competition.
• Kelsey Farkas became the second player to tie the single-game assist record, posting three against Fairfield. Earlier this season, Katherine Cavanaugh dished out three assists in a win over Hofstra. The feat has been accomplished seven times by four different Lions.
• Columbia is 7-14 all-time against Dartmouth and have alternated wins and losses the past five years with the home team winning each contest. Last year, the Big Green took a 3-2 overtime decision in Hanover. The Lions led 2-0 only to see Dartmouth score three unanswered to claim the victory.
• The Lions are 1-2 against Villanova. The teams last met in 2014 with Columbia topping the Wildcats, 5-2, at the Baker Athletics Complex.
SCOUTING DARTMOUTH
• The Big Green has dropped four in a row after a pair of losses to Yale (4-3) and Northeastern (5-1) last weekend.
• Katie Spanos leads the squad with eight goals. Lia Constantine has four assists.
• In goal, Hailey Valerio has started all 12 games and has a 4.19 GAA and a .698 save percentage.
SCOUTING VILLANOVA
• The Wildcats split last weekend's games, falling to No. 5 UConn 6-0 on the road Friday before coming away with a 2-1 overtime triumph over Longwood Sunday. Villanova hosts Temple in BIG EAST action before making the trip up I-95.
• Megan Vermeil, granddaughter of NFL Hall of Fame Coach Dick Vermeil, and Lydia Sydnor are tied for the team lead with six goals. Riley Dolan has dished out four assists.
• Erika Miller has seen the bulk of duty in net. She has a 2.71 GAA and a .641 save percentage.
