Lions Win Five of 10 Matches Against Pitt

Columbia concludes weekend after winning 24 of its 35 matches; Akanksha Bhan, Melissa Sakar finish weekend with perfect 3-0 records.
PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The Columbia Women's Tennis team concluded weekend competition at the Brown Classic Sunday as it won five of 10 matches against Pitt. This weekend represented Columbia's final fall competition.
On the weekend, Columbia has won 24 of its 35 matches. The Lions claimed nine of 11 matches against Boston College on Friday and 10 of 14 matches against Brown on Saturday.
On Sunday, Columbia won four of seven singles matches. Sophomore Jennifer Kerr, first-year Akanksha Bhan, first-year Melissa Sakar and first-year Caitie Sullivan all won matches. On the doubles side, Bhan and sophomore Paulina Ferrari also claimed a win.
For the weekend, first-years Akanksha Bhan and Melissa Sakar both finished the weekend with perfect 3-0 records.

The Brown Classic is being played using a hidden dual format with each school playing a different team each day. The number of doubles and singles can of course change depending on number of players available from each school. Each of the individual singles and doubles matches count, but not the team score.
