Women's Tennis Trio Experiences Summer Success

Sophomores Christie Wan, Jennifer Kerr and Paulina Ferrari all claim summer championships.
NEW YORK—Three Columbia women's tennis players—sophomores Christie Wan, Jennifer Kerr and Paulina Ferrari—all claimed summer tennis championships over the last three months.
Wan recently won both the Women's Open Singles and Doubles at the eighth annual Michael Chang Tennis Classic in Newport Beach, Calif., held July 27-29. Wan registered a variety of significant results en route to the title including wins over Taylor LeFridge 6-3, 5-7, 10-5, No. 1 seed Annika Bassey 6-3, 6-3, and Constance Branstine in the final. Branstine is a sophomore at Southern California.
Kerr captured the 102nd La Jolla Open Tennis Championship Women's Open Tournament which took place June 15-July 1. She defeated Hiromi Sasano in the championship match. More information is available at this link.
Ferrari won the 132nd annual Southern California Women's Open Doubles Championships which took place July 30-August 5. She partnered with fellow Ivy League transfer Mimi Levine (Penn) they defeated their opponents Aubuchon/Ustinoff 6-2, 6-1 in the final. For more information, click this link.
Columbia returns Wan, Kerr and Ferrari to a squad that finished 12-8 overall and 4-3 in Ivy League competition last year. A fall women's tennis schedule should be available soon.
