Men's Golf Travels to Cornell Invitational Over Weekend

Lions are one of four Ivy League and 15 overall teams to compete this weekend at Cornell's Robert Trent Jones Golf Course.
ITHACA, N.Y.—The Columbia men's golf team travels to Ithaca to compete in the annual Cornell Invitational this weekend hosted at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course. The teams will go through practice rounds on Friday, play 36 holes with a shotgun start on Saturday and compete in the final 18 holes with tee times on Sunday.
The Robert Trent Jones Golf Course at Cornell University plays to 6,904 yards with a par of 71 from the Big Red tees. It has a rating of 73.1 and a slope of 137. More information on the course is available at this link.
Four Ivy League teams and 15 total teams will compete in the event including Binghamton, Bucknell, Canisius, Colgate, Columbia, Cornell Dartmouth, Penn, St. Bonaventure, St. Joseph's, Siena, Temple and Yale. Host Cornell and Penn will enter two teams apiece.
Temple is the defending champion with a team score of 855 in last year's competition. Just six strokes separated the Owls from the next five teams, Yale (856), Cornel (857), St. Bonaventure (859) and Dartmouth (861). Yale sophomore James Nicholas is the defending medalist, making a 40-to 50-foot shot n the 54th hole to finish 4-under par and one stroke better than Temple's John Barone.
The invitational is Columbia's second of the fall season. Junior Nick Brisebois led the Lions at their season opener last weekend at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational hosted by Colgate. Brisebois placed seventh individually and shot a career three-round low one-over-par 73-71-73-217 in leading Columbia to a ninth place team finish.
