NEW YORK – The Columbia women's soccer team kicks off Ivy League play when it welcomes Cornell to Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium on Saturday, September 22. The match can be seen live at 6:00 p.m. on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT
The Lions were unable to get the offense clicking during a 4-0 defeat at No. 10 Georgetown this past Sunday. The loss takes the Lions to 3-4-1 before the start of Ivy League play. Mallaika Tomar had two attempts on goal which were both saved on the afternoon, while Cayla Davis also had two shots and Emma Anderson and Bailey Peacock recorded one each. Sophie Whitehouse faced 14 shots in goal, ending the match with a pair of saves.

SEASON AT A GLANCE
After a strong start to the season, the Lions have dropped three straight matches in a span of seven days. Columbia should be well-rested this Saturday, as the six days off were the most so far this season.

On the stat sheet, Gracie Wall, Maddie Temares, Tomar, and Anderson have all found the net twice this season, leading the way in goals. Tomar also leads the team in assists with four, with Wall and Emily Koe adding two helpers apiece. In net, Sophie Whitehouse has started all eight contests with two shutouts, 28 saves, and 12 goals against, but has had a string of bad luck, giving up a penalty kick goal in three of the past four losses.

ABOUT CORNELL
After opening up the season with a 2-1 overtime win against St. Bonaventure University, Cornell has been unable to record another win this season. The Big Red were able to muster a tie on Tuesday, in a 2-2 contest with Albany, leading to a 1-5-1 record in 2018.

Five players have scored one goal each for Cornell, with Naomi Jaffe, Aidan Julia Reineman, Kennedy Yearby, Shelby Wray, and Kaili Gregory all finding the back of the net. Meghan Kennedy has spent the most time in goal this season, starting five contests and allowing nine goals against with a 1-3-1 record.

UP NEXT
Columbia continues the Ivy League season with a 3:30 p.m. match at Brown next Saturday.
