Columbia men's swimming and diving hosts a pair of duals this weekend to open a three-meet home stretch
NEW YORK — The Columbia men's swimming and diving team returns to Percy Uris Natatorium this weekend for back-to-back duals. The Lions will face off against Ivy League foe Brown on Saturday at noon ET before taking on Bucknell at 1 p.m. Sunday.
A three-meet homestand is a welcome change for the Lions, who have seen six of their last seven competitions on the road.
Live results for the meet will be available via Meet Mobile.
The Lions are coming off their first Ivy League victory, having defeated Cornell, 164-136, on Saturday. The win saw Columbia take 11 of 16 event titles, with four athletes picking up multiple individual event victories. Sophomore Jonathan Suckow won on both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards, junior Nian-Guo Liu claimed the 100 and 200-yard freestyle, senior Brian Tsau was victorious in the 500 and 1,000 free and junior Cole Stevens swept the backstroke races.
SCOUTING BROWN
Brown visits Uris Pool with a 1-2 overall record, including an 0-2 mark in Ivy League duals. Brown most recently competed in a tri meet with Harvard and Penn on Jan. 12.
Columbia has won each of the last eight meetings between the two teams, with Browns' last win in the series coming on Jan. 29, 2010. Last season saw the Lions earn a 190-110 victory over the Bears in Providence.
SCOUTING BUCKNELL
Bucknell enters Sunday's meet at 3-4, 3-3 Patriot League. The Bison are coming off a 203.5-91.5 loss to Army on Jan. 12.
Last season, Columbia picked up a 157-84 victory over Bucknell on the road.
ON DECK
Columbia will contest its final home meet of the season on Friday, Jan. 25, playing host to Navy at 2 p.m.
