The Tigers built a four-goal lead at the half and never looked back.

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Columbia field hockey team fell to No. 7 Princeton in its third Ivy League matchup of the year by a final of 8-1. Despite Kelsey Farkas' team leading sixth goal on the year, Columbia (5-6, 1-2) was unable to keep up with Princeton (8-4, 3-0), as the Tigers continue their undefeated run in conference play.

Princeton jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a pair goals in the first 14 minutes of the game. Columbia's Kelsey Farkas would answer less than one minute after Princeton's second goal with a shot that found the back of the net off a corner. That would make it a one-goal game going into the break at the end of the first quarter.

However, in the third minute of the second quarter the Tigers would get another score and would add two more to make it 5-1 at half. The score remained the same until the Tigers scored three goals in the last 10 minutes of the match, running the score to 8-1 to end the game.

Although allowing a season-high eight goals to the Tigers, goalkeeper Alexa Conomikes recorded nine saves on the day, good for her second highest total of the season. The previous high in goals allowed for Columbia was three. The Lions had 10 shots to Princeton's 26, with four of those shots on goal.

Senior Jennifer Trieschman recorded her first assist on the year on the goal by Farkas.

Columbia hosts Penn Friday, October 18. Game time is set for 6 p.m. at the Baker Athletics Complex. Admission is free. Fans can also watch the contest live on ESPN+.
