
Lions Square Off Against Penn for Spirit Game and Head to No. 23 Monmouth Sunday

Columbia will host the Quakers in the official kickoff of Homecoming weekend before heading down I-95 to wrap up the weekend.

SCHEDULE UPDATE
In addition to Sunday's time change, Columbia's November 8 game against Harvard has been pushed back to a 6 p.m. start.
NEWS/NOTES
COLUMBIA'S STATUS
• The Lions struggled to get much going in their only game last week against then No. 7 Princeton. They found themselves down 5-1 at half and the Tigers went on to score three goals in 10 minutes late in the game to give them an 8-1 win.
• This was the Lions most goals allowed on the season by a wide margin. Their previous high had been three on two separate occasions.
• Columbia's lone goal came from Kelsey Farkas, who now leads the team with six goals. That is tied for fifth most in the Ivy.
• Brooke Gasser is third in the Ancient Eight with a team-high six assists.
PENN'S STATUS
• The Quakers are entering the match tied with Columbia with a 5-6 overall record. They are, however, on a three-game winning streak, with a pair of OT victories over Dartmouth and Drexel, and a 1-0 win over Boston University.
• Penn has also won five of its last six after losing its first five.
• Sophomore forward Maddy Fagan was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week for her play against Dartmouth and Drexel. She had two goals and two assists on the weekend, leading the team to a weekend sweep.
• In net, Ava Rosati has started all 11 games with a 2.74 GAA and .595 save percentage.
MONMOUTH'S STATUS
• Coming into the weekend, the Hawks are also on a three-game winning streak, including a couple impressive 5-1 victories against New Hampshire and Rider.
• In its wins on the year, Monmouth has beaten its opponents by an average of 3.38 goals.
• Two of Monmouths losses on the year have come in overtime, and another was a one-goal loss to No. 21 Rutgers.
• Sophomore Forward Annick Van Lange was named NFHCA National Player of the Week on October 9 after recording nine points on the weekend.
INSIDE THE SERIES - PENN
The Lions field an 11-12 record all-time against Penn. Columbia has won six of it's last eight, but the Quakers took last year's meeting, 2-0.
INSIDE THE SERIES - MONMOUTH
Columbia has had success against the Hawks in the past, holding an 8-3 all-time record. Sunday marks second time the schools are playing each other since 2011. The Lions won their last matchup and have won five of their last six.
TAKING ON THE BEST
Over half of Columbia's first 11 opponents have been ranked at some point this season in the NFHCA Top-25 Poll. The Lions took are 2-5 in those contests, their losses coming to No. 8 Iowa, 3-1, to No. 23 Fairfield, 1-0, to No. 24 Cornell 1-0 in shootouts, to No. 21 Albany 3-1, and most recently to No. 7 Princeton. Columbia's wins were agains No. 22 Boston University and No. 24 Maine. Looking ahead, Columbia will have two more cracks at teams currently in the top-25 when they face, Monmouth (Oct. 20) and Harvard (Nov. 18).
