Florio Finishes 13th, Columbia Takes Eighth at Yale Intercollegiate

Sophomore Alexis Florio led Columbia with a 13th place performance at seven-over-par 71-73-76-220; Columbia finishes eighth at 51-over-par 303-299-301-903.
NEW HAVEN, Conn.—Sophomore Alexis Florio led the Columbia women's golf team with a 13th place performance at seven-over-par 71-73-76-220, while the Lions concluded the three-day, 54-hole Yale Intercollegiate in eighth place Sunday at the Yale Golf Course. Columbia combined to shoot a 51-over-par 303-299-301-903.

Florio completed her seventh career top-25 finish at Columbia. On Sunday, she shot a 76 with back-to-back birdies on holes 4 and 5. Saturday, she shot a 73, registering back-to-back birdies on holes 5 and 6. In Friday's first round while shooting an Even 71, she carded three birdies on holes 4, 6 and 16 and registered 12 pars including a birdie and eight pars on the back nine.
With a team-low 71 on Sunday, first-year Christine Shao came charging up the leaderboard beginning the day in 29th place and ending the tournament in 17th with an eight-over-par 75-75-71-221. On Sunday, Shao registered two birdies and 14 pars. For the weekend, Shao ranked tied for fourth in the field in total pars with 40.
Sophomore Jennifer Wang concluded the weekend in 28th place with an 11-over-par 77-71-76-224. She made her move on Saturday as she rose 14 spots from 37th place to 23rd place while carding two birdies on holes 1 and 13 to shoot Even. She ranked ninth in the field with 37 pars.
Rounding out the Lions scorers include first-year Annie Sun, who finished in 62nd place at 25-over-par at 80-80-78-238, and junior Katie Lee, who placed 89th with an 81-W-79.
Competing as an individual, sophomore Marlene Tartaro sits in 80th place at 35-over-par 85-80-83-248.
Columbia competed in the Yale Intercollegiate for the fourth time in the last five years. Competing teams include Boston College, Boston U., Charlotte, Columbia, Delaware, Georgetown, Hartford, Harvard, Pennsylvania, Princeton, Quinnipiac, Stirling, Xavier and host Yale.
