NEW YORK – In dominating fashion, No. 6 Columbia Women's Squash (3-1) took down No.15 George Washington without dropping a match, winning 9-0, while the No. 7 Columbia men (2-2) dropped a tough match, which was decided by the final three matches, to No. 9 George Washington, 5-4, in a Sunday afternoon match at the SL Green StreetSquash Center.
 
HOW THE WOMEN FINISHED: At No. 1, 
Habiba Mohamed faced the toughest match of the day, having to play out all five points to come away with the 3-2 win over Zoe Foo.  Mohamed dropped her first game against Foo, 11-9, before storming back taking the next two games, 11-8, 11-8.  After Foo won the fourth game, 11-8, the match was decided with an 11-8 win by Mohamed to clinch the win.
 
The remaining matches would all go the Lions' way without Columbia dropping points, and it started with 
Erica McGillicuddy's 11-9, 12-10, 11-7 win over Engy Elmandouh.  In the No. 3 spot, 
Nicole Kendall swept past Emma Tyron, 11-5, 11-5, 15-13 for a commanding 3-0 win.  
Jui Kalgutkar (No. 4) won 11-2, 11-5, 11-5 over Zuha Nazir, while at No. 5 
Ellie McVeigh knocked off Arunachlam Vedikammeyamai, 11-1, 11-6, 11-3.
 
Bunny Fox, in the No. 6 slot, knocked off Nikki Pang, 11-3, 11-3, 11-1, while at No. 7 
Cindy Cao blew past Sasha Hinckley, 11-3, 11-4, 11-4.  In the final three spots, 
Jane Pincus (No. 8), knocked off Aarushi Lakhotia, 11-2, 11-3, 11-5, followed by an 11-7, 11-3, 11-1 win by 
Doria Chen over Aariya Patel at No. 9.  Columbia's final point came at No. 10 with 
Julia Masch taking down Anna Moscovici, 11-4, 11-2, 11-3.
 
HOW THE MEN FINISHED: On the men's side, the Lions and George Washington went down to the wire, with the match being decided by only one team point.  Columbia got its wins at No. 2 from 
Robin Mann, who took down Salim Khan, 13-11, 12-10, 4-11, 14-12, No. 4, where Rhaul Sehrawat battled against Karim Thabet, to take a 6-11, 11-8, 11-8, 9-11, 11-7 victory.  The final two wins came at No. 6, with 
Krish Kapur knocking off Juan Laguna, 11-4, 11-8, 11-6, and at No. 8 where 
Vishan Patel crushed Ian Blatchford, 11-4, 11-8, 11-3.
 
But despite the hard-fought wins by Columbia, George Washington was able to come away with one more win then the Lions, and the first came at the No. 1 spot when Mohammad Al-Terki beat 
Callan Hall, 11-8, 12-10, 2-11, 11-9.  At No. 3, Jamie Oakley won, 11-8, 11-6, 5-11, 11-3 over 
Chaitanya Shah, while at No. 5, Inaki De Larrauri beat 
Justin Ghaeli, 11-9, 12-10, 6-11, 11-7.  In the bottom positions, George Washington would get the three wins they needed to come away with the win, with David Varela winning 12-10, 11-5, 10-12, 11-2 over 
Aditya Kankariya at No. 7.
 
At No. 9, Columbia nearly flipped the score with 
Hugh Camiener battling with Lucas Stauffer to the brink, with Stauffer inching out a 6-11, 11-9, 11-7, 7-11, 12-10 to essentially lock up George Washington win.  George Washington got the final point at No. 10 with a 11-8, 11-8, 11-9 by Rohan Bagli over 
Andrew Jung.
UP NEXT: Both the women and men remain at the SL Green StreetSquash Center for their next match, when Williams comes to Manhattan on Friday, Dec. 6.
