Lions Open Spring Season at Invitational at Savannah Harbor

SAVANNAH, Ga.—The Columbia men's golf team opens its spring portion of the season this weekend when it travels to Savannah, Ga. to compete in the Invitational at Savannah Harbor event hosted by William & Mary and played at The Club at Savannah Harbor. The teams will go through practice rounds on Friday, play 36 holes with a shotgun 8 a.m. start on Saturday and compete in the final 18 holes with an 8 a.m. start on Sunday.
The Club at Savannah Harbor plays to 7,287 yards with a par of 72. More detailed information on the course is available at this link.
Eighteen teams will compete in the event including Austin Peay, Belmont, Bethune-Cookman, Butler, Columbia, Delaware, Florida A&M, Jacksonville State, North Dakota State, Northern Kentucky, Omaha, Savannah State, South Carolina Beufort, Tennessee Tech, Valparaiso, Washington & Lee, host William & Mary and Wright State.
The invitational marks Columbia's first competition of the spring season. Junior Nick Brisebois led the Lions with a 72.90 stroke average during fall play. Brisebois, who shot a team-low round of 68, also registered a team-best three top-25 finishes. Other top individual performers were sophomore John Robertson (73.86), first-year Daniel Core (74.00) and sophomore Youn Sung Kim (74.90). Robertson had the team's best performance with a 4-under-par finish third place finish at the Matthews Auto Intercollegiate. As a team, the Lions defeated 31 of their 61 opponents and averaged 295.30 strokes per round.
